During Spring Break 17 members from the Valley View High School Eagle Theatre Company attended the 2019 California Thespian Festival, this year’s theme being, “I am... We are, Thespians!” Out of these 17 students , 8 qualified to attend the International Thespian Festival In Lincoln Nebraska June 23-29. Daniel Cuasay and Mitchell Calderilla received Superiors in their Solo Musical Individual Events. Daniel Cuasay also ranked in the top 1% of the states solo musical performers. They performed the songs, "Great Big Stuff" from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and "Pulled" from the Addams Family Musical. Hayden Harbison and Venecia Winstead received Superiors for their Duet Acting Scene from the play" Deck the Stage", and Bianca Fuentes received Superiors for her Contrasting Monologues from the plays, " Catholic School Girls" and "Including, Shooter". Mitchell Calderilla was selected to be a vocal soloist in the Closing Number, which was comprised of selections from Jason Robert Brown’s, “Songs for a New World.” In addition, President Jade Moreno and Vice President Mitchell Calderilla were able to bring home the California State Arts Advocacy award for the second year in a row! Kayla Flores was selected to attend internationals for scholarship auditions and Rachel Milner to gain experience to run for an international officer position. Daniel Magdalena and Ivan Chavez received over all Excellent for duet acting. Analidia Martinez and Nicole Martinez received an overall Excellent for duet acting. Mitchell Calderilla and Leslie Aguilar received an overall Excellent for duet acting. Daniel Cusey and Yasmin Farias received an overall Excellent for duet acting and Jade Moreno and Marina Rodriguez received an overall score of Excellent for duet actin. Both Jarad Ogan-Cushing and Kayla Flores received an overall score of Excellent for monologues, while Leslie Aguilar and Rachel Milner received an overall good for musical dance.
