2019-2020 Elementary Art Shows

Elementary Arts held their first Art Show of the 2019-20 school year with student work from the first trimester elementary schools, including Box Springs, Chaparral Hills, Cloverdale, Edgemont, Moreno, Ramona, Sunnymead and Towngate. The Riverside Art Museum once again hosted the event and allowed our students, parents and guests free admission to the entire museum.  Art teachers, Kelsey Appis (Badger Springs MS), Karoll Joson (Landmark MS) and Rachelle Bruce (Vista del Lago HS) all had their own activities set up for students and parents to participate in. These activities included thaumatropes, "big mouth" origami bookmarks, watercolor prints, and a mural. Attendance was spectacular for the entire exhibit with students and parents enjoying an afternoon of viewing and making art. The second elementary art show of the year is scheduled for February 22nd and will feature art work from the trimester two elementary schools. The exhibit will also be held at the Riverside Art Museum.

“Every art show the elementary students in our district show growth in skill and understanding. It is amazing what they can accomplish in just a trimester,” said Greg Solomon, Coordinator of Visual and Performing Arts for the Moreno Valley Unified School District.  Elementary arts teachers April James, Don Mooneyham and Ryan Taylor worked hard having their student work displayed for the exhibit each trimester. The team of three art teachers support all 23 elementary schools, in grades 4 and 5.
