On September 28th our MVUSD High Schools all had a select group of students participate in a quartet festival at Cal. State University, Fullerton. They requested each schools four best singers and had them learn an entire program of music in one day. The school of music also had vocal master classes given by the vocal department. Students got to ask questions about what is required to apply to music school and know what it would be like to be in a college program for the day! They had an amazing time and came back ready to learn on a new level and push their peers farther!
It pushed the students to perform and read music at the highest level for their age which was an amazing learning experience for the students. Over 50 Southern California schools were represented and performed together.
On October 19th Cal. State University, Fullerton hosted another festival this time for TTBB voices, typically men’s voices. They also learned and performed a concert of music but music specific to lower voices and were able to spend the day bonding and gaining tools to help be foundation members of a choral ensemble. Moreno Valley High School sent 7 boys and they got to perform for the festival choir by themselves and represented their school well.
